Welcome to the 2024 Nevada Training Corps Encampment!
Get ready to launch yourself into one of the most challenging, exciting and rewarding weeks of your life! There are CAP encampments, and then there is the Nevada Training Corps Encampment — and there is a reason our experience is second to none.
Our Encampment will cover Aerospace Education, Leadership, Character Development, Physical Fitness and Drill and Ceremonies in fantastic ways that make them come alive and will make you excited to explore them further when you return to your home units. As an added bonus, when you graduate from the Nevada Training Corps you will absolutely want to staff future encampments.
What you learn as young leaders in CAP will set you well above your peers for military academies, the best schools, ROTC, the corporate world, and everywhere that leaders are needed. YOU will be our future Presidents, members of Congress, CEOs, generals, doctors, pilots, lawyers and highly productive workers in the workforce. YOU are going to make America in your image! On top of all of this, you are going to have a ton of fun!
Back by popular demand - all cadets will be able to participate in a firearms course taught by NRA-certified instructors. Cadets will have the opportunity to earn an NRA marksmanship badge to wear on their CAP uniforms.
If you plan on attending as a returning cadet cadre staff member or senior member, you are going to be equally thrilled. You will have a chance to pass on your skills and talents as a mentor to those who will succeed you and take your place as you also seek your next higher challenges. You will be building the next generation of leaders. Don’t think you are too junior in rank to apply for a position — there are jobs for every grade that are absolutely critical to make an encampment work and they all help you grow.
CAP regulations require that cadets have achieved the grade of C/Amn or above. You will not be allowed to register until you've earned that first promotion. If you have questions about promotion requirements, speak to your squadron commander or use your chain of command.
Payment
Registering below with a credit card today is the best way to reserve your slot and ensures your attendance at Encampment. There are limited slots available. There is an option for you to pre-register only. This will allow you to reserve your slot but your card will not be charged until about May 12, 2024, when we expect to have final confirmation of Encampment and the list of scholarships. We highly suggest you use this pre-registration option - just make sure the card you use will not expire before June.
While we absolutely wish to welcome cadet students (first-timers) from outside of Nevada Wing, due to the limited availability of Encampment staff, priority will be initially given to Nevada Wing students. Therefore, students from outside Nevada Wing will be waitlisted until we have a better idea of the size of Encampment. As soon as possible, waitlisted cadets will be contacted and given the opportunity to complete their registration. Waitlisted cadets will not be charged until accepted to Encampment.
We highly recommend you go to the National Headquarters website and apply for a Cadet Encampment Assistance Program (CEAP) scholarship at https://www.capmembers.com/cadet_programs/activities/ceap/. If you plan to apply for a CEAP scholarship, do not register with a payment. Instead use the "pre-register" option and input credit card information (you will not be charged). You will receive a notification of CEAP approval via email. Please forward the CEAP scholarship approval email to the Encampment Commander at [email protected]. You will then receive a registration code to complete your registration free of charge.
If you anticipate receiving a scholarship from your squadron or wing, please register now to secure your spot. Once your unit commander has sent an email to the Encampment Commander, you will be given new registration instructions or receive a refund of the amount of your scholarship.
Cadre Scholarships (for those who have already attended Encampment)
You are encouraged to apply for CEAP, but should expect the scholarship only if you are in the first-priority financial group. You may also try for the Cadet Character and Leadership Foundation scholarship at http://www.cclfscholarships.org/ as a cadet cadre member. If you are approved, CCLF generally reimburses you directly so you should still register below. Further, there may also be money available from your region, wing or squadron. Again, if you are approved, you will be refunded the amount of your scholarship or be given special registration instructions.
Senior Members
Seniors, there is no fee for you to register. We very much appreciate your volunteer service and a week of your time helping our cadets grow as leaders. However, if you wish to make an optional tax-deductible donation to help cover the costs of your room and board, you may do so when registering. The Nevada Wing thanks you for helping keep our Encampment financially viable for years to come.
Questions about registration should be directed to the Encampment Commander at 702-773-2082 or [email protected].
